ARTIST STATEMENT
“Piker je net, it komt doch oars” is a well- know Frisian proverb. It means as much as“Don’t worry, everything will change anyway”. A tile with this proverb was standing on my parent's mantelpiece. The fact that everything changes in life is an established one. It fascinates me as well worries me. And in order to deal with this fear, I incorporate it into my work as an artist. Recurring themes are therefore decay, transience and loss. I hereby often draw from my own rural childhood as a starting point for my projects.

ARTIST STATEMENT
“Piker je net, it komt doch oars” is een bekend Fries spreekwoord. Het betekent zoiets als "Maak je geen zorgen, alles verandert toch". Een tegeltje met dit spreekwoord stond op de schoorsteenmantel in mijn ouderlijk huis. Het feit dat alles in het leven verandert fascineert me, maar verontrust me tegelijkertijd. En om met deze angst om te gaan verwerk ik het in mijn vrije werk als kunstenaar. Terugkerende thema's zijn verval, vergankelijkheid en verlies. Ik gebruik hierbij vaak mijn plattelandse jeugd als startpunt voor mijn projecten.
