Het valt me al geruime tijd op dat de huidige blik van de moderne homo sapiens vaak naar beneden is gericht.
Turend naar het schermpje van zijn smartphone. Lopend over straat, zittend in de trein of op het terras; ik zie steevast gebogen hoofden.
Geketend aan de smartphone
heeft de moderne mens weinig oog meer voor de schoonheid van de wereld om hem heen.
Als reactie hierop richt ik daarentegen mijn blik naar boven. Gebruikmakend van diezelfde smartphone fotografeer ik mijn omgeving met de vluchtige wolkenpartijen en luchten als uitgangspunt. Met de camera van mijn IPhone leg ik het moment vast wat jij net hebt gemist door naar beneden te kijken.

missed (by looking down).
For some time now, I have noticed that the current
gaze of modern homo sapiens is often directed downwards. Staring at the screen
of his smartphone.
Walking on the street; bowed heads everywhere I
look. Chained to that phone, modern man no longer pays much attention to the beauty of the world surrounding him.
In response to this, I direct my gaze upwards. Using that same smartphone I photograph my surroundings with the ephemeral cloud formations and skies as a starting point. With my I-phone’s camera I capture the moment you just missed by looking down.
